1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how The Social Selling Company Limited collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal data when you use Our websites and services.

This policy applies to all services delivered through the websites socialselling.co.uk, silla.co and their subdomains and any associated platforms operated by Us, including the Silla platform.

Our services are for businesses. They are not aimed at anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

2. Data Controller and Data Processor

For the purposes of data protection legislation, the data controller is The Social Selling Company Limited, registered in England under 11674627.

We are the controller of the personal data we hold about Our own customers, members, prospects and website visitors, such as account, billing, community, support and marketing data.

When you use Silla to hold or collect personal data about your own contacts, leads, clients, webinar registrants or website visitors, you are the controller of that data and We are your processor. We handle it only on your instructions, as set out in Our agreement with you. Your own privacy notice must tell those people how you use their data. This policy does not cover that data.

If you have questions about this policy or how your data is used, you can contact Us at [email protected].

3. Personal Data We Collect

We may collect and process the following types of personal data:

  • name and contact information;
  • email address and telephone number;
  • billing and payment information;
  • account login details;
  • business information you provide;
  • usage data relating to how you interact with Our platform, emails, links, pages, diagnostics and videos, including video watch time;
  • technical data such as a hashed form of your IP address, device and browser type, and approximate location;
  • recordings and transcripts of calls and sessions (see section 10);
  • communication records when you contact Us.

4. How We Collect Data

We collect personal data in several ways, including:

  • when you register for an account;
  • when you purchase products or services;
  • when you register for or take part in webinars, events, community discussions or live sessions;
  • when you complete a form or diagnostic;
  • when you contact Our support team;
  • through cookies and similar tracking technologies on Our websites, and in server logs when a page or link is requested;
  • from advertising platforms, such as Meta, when you complete one of Our lead forms.

5. How We Use Your Data

We use your personal data to:

  • provide access to Our services and membership platform;
  • process payments and manage subscriptions;
  • communicate with you about your account or services;
  • provide customer support;
  • send you marketing, where the law allows (see section 13);
  • understand which content is useful to you and decide which message to send next (see section 12);
  • improve Our services, software, and user experience;
  • keep Our services secure and prevent abuse;
  • meet legal and regulatory obligations.

6. Legal Basis for Processing

We process personal data on the following legal bases:

  • performance of a contract with you;
  • compliance with legal obligations;
  • legitimate interests in operating, securing and improving Our services and in promoting them to businesses;
  • your consent where required, for example for optional cookies and some marketing. You can withdraw consent at any time.

7. Data Sharing and Sub-processors

We share your data with trusted third-party service providers where necessary to deliver Our services. These include payment processors, hosting and infrastructure providers, email and messaging providers, speech-to-text and AI providers, video and meeting providers, and analytics and advertising providers.

You can ask Us for a list of Our sub-processors at [email protected]. All third parties are required to handle your data in accordance with applicable data protection laws.

We may also disclose personal data where the law requires it, or to professional advisers, or in connection with the sale or restructuring of Our business.

We do not sell your personal data.

8. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal data from unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. These include access controls, encryption in transit, and two-step sign-in options.

However, no internet-based service can guarantee absolute security. We will tell you and the Information Commissioner's Office about a personal data breach where the law requires it.

9. Data Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected, including satisfying legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. Our main periods are:

  • recordings of one-to-one calls: up to 90 days;
  • recordings of webinars, events and live group sessions: 36 months after the event, after which the video recording is deleted;
  • invoices and accounting records: 6 years after the end of the tax year;
  • marketing contacts: until you unsubscribe, then a record of your unsubscribe, with inactive contacts reviewed periodically;
  • everything else: only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected for, after which it is deleted or anonymised. We review what we hold at least once a year.

We keep some records longer where the law requires it or to deal with a legal claim. Data you load into Silla as a customer is kept and deleted in line with Our agreement with you.

10. Call and Session Recordings

We may record sales calls, advisory sessions, 1-to-1 calls, support calls and reviews, live training sessions, webinars and other interactions for the purposes of:

  • delivering Our services;
  • training and quality assurance;
  • internal review and improvement;
  • maintaining customer records and history;
  • providing access to content within Our platform;
  • creating training materials.

Most one-to-one calls are not recorded. Where we do record one, it is usually recorded in Microsoft Teams, which shows everyone on the call a notice when recording starts. These recordings are stored in Our Microsoft account and kept for the period set there, currently up to 90 days.

We use recordings of one-to-one calls, support calls and reviews only to provide the service, for quality assurance and training of Our own team, and for Our customer records. We do not use them in marketing, and we do not make them available to other members, without your permission.

Live group sessions, webinars and events are recorded and made available within Our platform as training assets for members. They are kept for 36 months after the event, after which the video recording is deleted. Access may be removed where a membership ends. We use a recording of a live group session for promotion or marketing only with the permission of the people who appear or speak in it.

Recordings may include audio, video, screen sharing, chat content, and transcripts generated from those recordings. Transcripts are produced by speech-to-text providers acting on Our instructions.

We process this data on the basis of contract performance and Our legitimate interests in operating and improving Our services.

11. Your Rights

Under UK data protection law you have certain rights regarding your personal data, including the right to:

  • access your personal data;
  • request correction of inaccurate data;
  • request deletion of your data in certain circumstances;
  • restrict or object to certain processing, including processing based on legitimate interests and direct marketing;
  • request transfer of your data;
  • withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent.

Requests relating to these rights should be sent to [email protected]. We will respond within one month. If you are not satisfied with Our response, you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

12. Cookies, Tracking and Analytics

Our websites use cookies and similar technologies to make them work, to keep them secure and, with your consent, to understand how visitors use Our services. Optional cookies are set only if you accept them. Details of each cookie are in Our Cookie Policy: https://socialselling.co.uk/legal/cookies.

Whether or not you accept cookies, when a page or link is requested Our servers log the page or link requested, your device and browser type, approximate location, and a hashed (scrambled) form of your IP address, using a secret salt. We do this to keep the service secure, prevent abuse and count visits and clicks, on the basis of Our legitimate interests. This does not identify you personally and does not use a cookie.

If you accept optional cookies, we link your activity across Our pages, emails, links, videos and diagnostics to you once you identify yourself, for example by filling in a form. We use this to understand how far along your thinking is about a topic and to decide which message to send you next. We do not make any decision about you that has a legal or similarly significant effect. You can object to this tracking at any time by emailing [email protected] or by changing your cookie choices.

13. Marketing and Advertising

We send marketing emails and messages where you have asked for them or, for existing customers, where the law allows us to promote similar services. Every marketing message has an unsubscribe link, and you can also tell Us at [email protected]. We act on opt-outs promptly.

With your consent, we use the Meta pixel and Meta's Conversions API to measure and improve Our own advertising. If you complete one of Our Meta lead forms, Meta passes your answers to Us and we use them to follow up with you. Meta is responsible for its own use of data under its own privacy policy.

14. AI Features

Some Silla features use artificial intelligence providers to generate content or suggestions. When you use them, the text you enter and related context from your account are sent to those providers to produce a response. Please do not enter special category data (such as health information), criminal offence data or children's data into AI features. AI output may be inaccurate and should be checked before you use it.

15. International Transfers

We store most data with Amazon Web Services in London. Some of Our providers, including Cloudflare and some AI, email and messaging providers, process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where this happens we rely on the UK-US data bridge where the provider is certified, or on the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or another safeguard permitted by UK law.

16. External Links

Our websites may contain links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites.

17. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The most current version will always be available at https://socialselling.co.uk/legal/privacy.

Since the version effective 1 November 2025, this policy adds more detail on Our role as controller and processor, tracking and cookies, advertising, AI features, international transfers, recordings and the periods for which we keep data.
